I've not see a DDR variety for this coin, but it looks like doubling to me, and not machine. Sorry the pictures aren't great, but I'm new at this and need to get a better scanner. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ****** Edited by Staff to clarify topic title. Can you get some close ups of the areas your referring to? That would help.

EP of EPB looks interestingly fatter. Is that what you are looking at CS77?

The dots look normal but that last you in Pluribus has a funky look. Maybe its just the eroding of the coin.

The "O" in "one" and "NT" in "cent" looks like there might be some doubling.

Yes, Rackster, that and the "M" in America...The "ONE CENT" seems fatter in areas too. I need to get a microscope imager...hard to ask you guys to comment when its clear enough. Thanks.

Not to mention any coin that appears to be thicker could be simple wear and PMD since the coin has been in circulation for 34 years. =\

I've been looking at period coins in similar condition. I see the devices becoming rough and jagged under the copper plating. Given that these (and the subject specimen) are amongst the oldest Zincolns, it may be the zinc substrate is starting to fail in the areas that were formed. Things may be 'growing' in size.
Just thinking out loud.

Most 80's were/are copper. 82 and forward are subject to be zinc. Unless these circulated show head slapping DDO DDR devices, the PMD and circulation of the coins will make anything seem like a DDO DDR. For the record, I don't collect potentially rotting zincs and I hardly ever do circulated copper Lincolns. Of the over 70,000 copper Lincolns here, we have 99.5% of them as BU.
