I found this on ebay today and they seem to be selling. Has anyone here bought one like this and would you recommend it? Also, how easy is it to navigate vs using the books? Honestly it sounds a little too good too be true, all of those books for $4 so I just want some feedback first.

Thanks.

I would pass on that ebay auction it seems fishy that they'd be selling those CDs for a fraction of what they cost.

I purchased Standard Catalog of World Coins 1901-2000, 37th edition on CD. I don't use it that often. It is searchable and you can enlarge the pages.

I got mine from shop.numismaster.com a few years ago. I had subscribed to email newsletters and they had a 50% off sale so I picked it up with a few other cheaper CDs.

Thank you both for your replies, I think I will pass on the listing as I agree it does seem fishy. I think instead I will just pick up the Krause books at the next coin show and in the meantime, will use the website link provided by DVCollector.

I have an old version one. It's just a PDF file, it's easy to navigate an go directly to the page you want.

I'm surprised that one of the sellers is from New York. The others are from India.

They are just copies of the books on CDs. Highly doubt they are legal, but as long as ebay gets their money they don't really care.

Yes they work. Yes they are somewhat easy to navigate (don't type in Germany and expect to go right to the German section).

THANK YOU! the numismaster "find a coin" thing stopped working for me a few months ago for some reason and now I can see WHAT the coins I find are made of.

I have the DVD and it can be used.
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I prefer a book.
I have a 20C Krause but tend to borrow the others from the library.

You can find them online but they are outdated. They're good to have on your phone for quick lookups. If you own the DVD, why not transfer the pdf to your phone. The books are way too chunky for me to haul around anywhere. So they went from being phonebooks to books for phones.
