Hello,

I know what the coin is, but need help identifying what is wrong with it and why it is happening. Its a year 2000 sacagawea sealed in a united states mint proof set. Any direction would be great! Thank you!

I'm not sure if there's anyone here that can help with the picture provided, I think you should try to get a larger image of the coin.

A couple things. First, need a much larger pic than that.
Second, what exactly is it that you think is wrong?

Um, frankly, I do not see anything wrong with the coin, at least with the tiny pics.

Maybe you are seeing tarnish, otherwise known as toning? I see hues of different colors on the coin when I zoom up....if that's the case it is a very natural event to take place on a coin when it comes in contact with different substances like air.

From the pic it looks to be shrunken to less than half the size of a normal $1 coin

Agreed that larger images would help. From the pictures I'm seeing rainbow toning on the wings--this is caused by a chemical reaction, usually between the metal of the coin, something on the surface of the coin, and air. Toning is completely normal, and most see it as desirable--it's been a sort of fashion trend in recent years.

How long has the coin been like this? Has it been yours since it was new, and how is it stored? Toning with the variety of colors seen in the image is quite rare in copper coins, and if it's natural toning, you could be looking at a coin that will fetch a very nice premium on ebay. If you can't vouch for the first 14 years of your coin's life, be wary of artificial toning--people sometimes treat coins with harsh chemicals to induce toning and attempt to boost the numismatic value.
