I've got a number of old PCGS graded coins from when I was collecting before and now that I've jumped back in I need to know what's the deal with the term "rattler" and which version of the PCGS slab is it?

The coin rotates around inside the first couple generation holders from PCGS, which is why some of them are turned around. The gaskets were introudced to help prevent the rotation.

If take an older PCGS slab and shake it, the coin will "rattle" inside because the fit is not tight like today's slabs.

Picture of one? I have seen slabs that have indents in the middle, which could resembe a rattle from a snake.

Show me an example.

It makes a rattling sound when I shake the slab.

These rattlers aren't slabbed but they still make noise. I live in a bad neighborhood!

"Rattlers" are considered to be superior because standards were tougher back then.
Shake, rattle and roll!
