I was given a large Canadian coin collection, and don't know a thing about them. I am a US coin collector, but I'm sure these have some value. Not to be a bother, but if you could shed some light on this it Would help!! Thanks!!

Good... they're Grrrrreeat! (and gives the ole' "tony the tiger pointing of the index finger")

I like the 1859 penny myself there's so many varieties of this coin it just blows my mind!

As for the rest it sounds like you're on your way to starting a nice Cdn. coin collection too!! Hope you enjoy the coins!!

Since you also are a collector,you know that grades dictate value in general.If your coins are in a range of VG to F and are not classified as Varieties,your large cents have a BV of about $50CAD.
As far as the nickels go,you would have to sort them by dates and see if you have some varieties that command a premium.Pre 1982 are 100% nickel at about $8.25 per pound.Hope this help a bit
