I feel like I have a solid silver sled, made from all the rounds I bought for $25-$30 Going DOWN!

But it makes it easy to work on sets... I need ONE Silver Roosevelt to complete my second full set, 8 more on top of that for THREE full sets

Plus my Washington quarter Folder keeps getting heavier

EDIT: spelling, and clarifying

one theory circulating the net is that india has reduced
their gold consumption until after their elections. those
results are due 16th may I believe. probably best to wait
a bit and see what happens next.

ASLAN,

Don't feel too badly. There used to be a crowd on here, that has since departed, for some reason They were throwing massive amounts of money at bullion coins like common ASEs and Maples for 40-$50 back in 2011. Some were buying monster boxes left and right, going from no silver at all to well over 1k oz. in less than six months. It took me nearly five years to get that amount!

Those were the heady days of silver. Back then, this site was overloaded with members with 15-20 new posts a day. When prices first started dipping near the end of 2011, everyone thought it was just a radar blip on the way to silver riches for all, so I did a survey. You'd be surprised just how many people had predicted spot silver at $75+ by April 2013. I went the other way, saying $20 by that date. But it was more wishful thinking on my part than really knowing.

Now I'm stumping for silver to get back in the low teens once again, and gold below $600. Will Pms get there?
Rest in Peace

I just started a second set (32-64) in an old Library of Coins album just to soothe the itch while I fill in page 1 in my Dansco (#1 collection).

I also remember people picking up monsters for well over 20K. You can get two now for the price of what people payed back in 2011. Ouch...

Nice! Until I have one of every silver coin in the world I should hope that prices keep falling. The day I can buy Canadian silver dollars for $10 will be a good day indeed

I was just a lurker back then but those were some fun days on the forum. Members posting photos of large stacks of both silver and gold. Then they just disappeared all of sudden in 2012 when silver started to decline. I guess they couldn't admit that they were wrong about the trajectory of precious metals.

Possibly...but will any be available at that price, and if the stock market crashes...watch out!

Well, I was one of those folks, I guess (although I only had stacks of silver, not gold). It's true that I don't post in this particular forum much anymore, but I didn't actually disappear. I just do my posting in the coin-related forums on the site since I started out as a coin collector and not as a stacker and didn't come here just to talk about PMs.

I'm perfectly happy to admit I was wrong about the trajectory of PMS, especially in the short run. I still believe that PMs have good long-term potential, which is why I have held onto all the PM I bought previously. But the only PMs I am buying these days are ones that have some collectible value beyond their PM value, such as the 5-ounce ATB pucks.

Of course, if silver drops below $18 and/or gold drops below $1200, I might need to engage in a leeeeetle more stacking...

barryg: I think you're one of the exceptions that has stuck to your strategy through thick and thin and will ultimately be rewarded. I'm talking about the bandwagon jumpers that talked silver up when it was at highs but disappeared when the bottom fell out. I remember a few members back then that would almost post new acquisitions daily during the spike but no longer post when things aren't looking so bright.

Barry didn't run off like most of the guys I'm thinking of. I occasionally wonder if they sold all their overpriced PMs, compared to where silver and gold sit today, and washed their hands of the whole costly, disappointing, nightmarish affair. I hope not, but know some old members probably did just that, which is the main reason why they aren't posting anymore. Too bad. It was a more interesting place back then. I hope some of the old guys come back, eventually. Might have to wait for the next PM run-up in twenty years before we get a fresh infusion of new blood around here ;)

traevin, I remember that mass histaria, good times. I loved watching the silver charts and how they would bomb one day then spike the next. I'll admit, I bought some at $35, but I don't have any major regrets. I would keep buying today at these prices if my plans took me in that direction.

Frankly I jumped ship with the sell forum got clamped down on. I don't know who ruined it, but I sure do miss it. It was a nice alternative to You're Kidding Right?.

I think a few of those members violated rules in this forum and got banned. And those that remained are collectors/investors/stacker in that order, like Barry, I continue to buy but in smaller quantities when price drops. I have not achieve my 1,000 ounces yet! Hope to do so near future...

Yes, since coming to the boards, there are quite a few that seemed to be regular contributors no longer post. I can't recall all the names but EdB and a few others were really quite regular.
