I just don't see how this could be a clipped cent. The clips are not in the right spots to happen? The reverses look cut in that direction.

If a true double clip was to happen then the clips would have to be 90 degrees opposite of each other. Correct ? The blank would have had to been cut out on the end corner of the stock strip. Possible that your coin may have one clip on the right side but just PMD on the left side. Otherwise just all PMD. Not a double clip anyway.

Looks good to me, but it is dirty and damaged.

I say PMD because I see bare copper....if it the coin was clipped when it was minted then it all would tone the same and no copper would be visible. Coops info is quite convincing as well

Here are a few that are in one area of the coin: Here is a triple clip: But going through my images I do have one that is opposite: So this one may be the real deal. I can't get an mock up it to show how it could be real. But I'm going to look around some more.

I'm just a newbie but it looks real and it looks like the die is rotated to me.

Thanks guys. I'm really hoping for the best.
As far as the toning is concerned, what you seeing is the lighting, (I'm still working on my skills or lack of them), the toning is the same as the rest of the coin.
Hope this helps.

Quote: but... is it the real deal? The tapering of the clip and the tapering the rims as they flow into the clip look correct. Nothing I see points to post-strike damage. Do you see metal flow along the clip? in the I of LIBERTY? If so, you can confirm that you have a genuine double clip Wheat cent.
