This was in my great-grandfathers collection. I never met him, but got started collecting because of him. I dont really collect these, but was curious as to what you thought of the grade. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Well if you don't collect them you can ship it to me. Looks to be VG10?

I would agree on VG-10 although the weakness of the strike more towards the center may affect the grading.

I could see it as an F12 given the weak strike/thin planchet issue. It's a nice coin to keep in the family.

I'd say VG-10 with good eye appeal and amazing history. That's a coin to be kept and passed down in the family.

Thanks! I will never sell this coin. He had a few others, a 1814 single leaf that I had graded, and the most significant one out of his collection was an 1854 O $3 gold. He had really good taste.
My grandmother still has most of the collection, which there are dozens of large cents, rolls of dollars and a bunch of other silver. Can't wait to spend a solid weekend going through it all.

I'm going to be the outlier and call it F15.
