I got this today at my local bank while I was picking up some coins. I'm not into collecting paper money much, but the different design on this bill stood out to me. It's a series 1974, which is the oldest bill I've ever seen in circulation, but then again, I'm only 15.

Besides it's age, there is nothing special about this note, at least I don't think so. However, I was wondering if just the fact that it's 40 years old makes it carry a slight premium?

In that condition, no. The oldest bill I've found are thereabouts too (60's and 70's) but there are many of these types preserved in mint condition, so they're not worth much otherwise.

It's a nice note, but well-circulated. Because it's not CU, I don't think you'll get any kind of premium on it but I could be wrong.

Of course it's worth, it's worth $10, it's printed out in the bill.

You might be able to get a little over face for it, but not too much. Here's one I sold a little while ago: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-10-Bil...171284654639
After ebay fees and such, it's not too much, but I just can't bear to spend it, haha. At least it ends up with someone who appreciates it.

As said before, these are really only worth a premium when in really good condition Au+. You might find someone to give a couple of bucks over if they are collecting 10s by date, but you'd be better off just spending. Or keeping, that's what I'd do unless going through a rough spell.
