Their building is a distinctive part of the Omaha skyline. It was also the employer of the main protagonist in the movie "About Schmidt" starring Jack Nicholson. One of my favorite "what's life all about" movies.

My family were members of WOW.
Every summer there would be a big picnic locally [Connecticut], with games for the kids and lots of food.
However, I eventually learned that that they were prejudiced against racial minorities.
A very 'White' organization.
KenKat, was WOW a separate entity from Mutual of Omaha? The latter had wonderful
TV programs about animals once a week. Also an insurance company.
frodo, I do not recall such medals being produced, but that is not to say that they weren't.

My association terminated when my policy was cashed in to be used to fund my first home.

Mutual of Omaha is a completely separate insurance company, also based in Omaha.

I don't know the full history of Woodmen, but it is as far as I know now a very stand up company that does a lot for the community.
