digging through some costume jewelry, I found 2 Napoleon the 3rd 5 franc gold earrings..

i am not a very good photographer..

what do you think? found a good one?

It should be easy enough to take them to a jeweler to be tested for gold content.
The caveat would be, "Are they still nice coins or did they suffer damage?"
Coins that were used as jewelry can go either way.
If genuine gold, you will have a nice nest-egg to be used for other coins or whatever.
I personally do not like the obverse, although the reverse looks quite nice.
What are your intentions?

good question,,,as you suggested, if I use it to fill in holes in my coin collection.that would be most gratifying
i also collect milsurp firearms..
...sit on them for now
till I find out what they are worth. any idea?

I finally got the other coin out of the earring mounting
its a 1859.
