This coin was one of four and part of a coin spill that included two 1809 Half Cents and an 1816 LC. The obverse is in great shape while the reverse not so much. This coin spill (range of dates) led me to search the area intensely for GW inaugural buttons. I actually found one based on this hunch along with one of those huge 8 reales silver coins (1803). Seeing such a large piece of silver come from the ground initially made me think it was play money!

Looks like an F/VF. Needs a good, long dip in Acetone.

Nice coin to dig up!! I usually soak my dug coppers in olive oil, then very lightly brush with nylon brush. Yours is in better shape than mine ever are!! Congrats. I too want to see the big silver!!

Hopefully the reverse will clear up in a good long dip. That series is hard to find period, so digging one is quite the accomplishment!
