In my opinion 60-o is good choice for a type set. Looks good, is that price discounted?
Edit: Price does seem low, I would ask if there are any problems that merit the low asking? Still looks like a good candidate for the 7070 if the look matches your set.

This coin has me curious of how it seems to be so clean and mint state-like, but the grade was only AU-55. I've been looking online on other websites and grades this high are toned or dull looking. Others that have this look have been cleaned. I asked him if he'd take $675 to see what he says!

It's definitely been dipped, but then again, most have. If it has a lot of luster (life) to it and no distracting marks, it's still probably a pretty good coin.

a good dip has never bothered me just because I think most toning makes the coin ugly and hides detail I like to see when I look at the coin, others feel very different than I do and this one being slabbed by NGC atleast makes you know it wasn't harshly cleaned with brillo scratches all over the surfaces of the coin

Beautiful, appears to have been dipped in the distant past but no real harm done. I'd go along with the AU-55 grade.

I bought this coin thanks to everyone's recommendations! I've asked for some higher resolution images, but we shall see. I can't believe I just dropped $700+ on a coin

I wanted to follow up on this after having the coin in hand for a few days. At first I wasn't very impressed with it, but after looking at it for some time it really has grown on me. I am going to blame this on my lack of experience looking at a lot of coins in person. Most of them are on a computer screen. Dare I say that the reverse almost has a cameo appearance to it? (Comparing it to my deep cameo State Quarter.) There are some hairlines on the coin as well as marks in the fields, but I've been comparing it to other coins of similar grade online and this one is a keeper! I forgot to mention that it still has some good luster, too. I'm glad I purchased this one, but now I have to find a motto Seated dollar that has the same eye appeal! Thanks to everyone for their help!

FroDaddy, I think you made a good purchase. I wouldn't have hesitated to long myself had I seen it. Was it a new listing when you snagged it or was it on the site a while?

I'm not really sure if it was a new listing or not. I got the final word that we definitely would get a bonus check at work around the 26th, but I didn't know how I was going to spend the money. I was online shopping for things other than a coin for a day or two. After I saw what other Seated dollars prices / grades were, I posted this thread asking for confirmation of the Harlan coin. I made an offer the same day, but they asked me to wait until Monday (2 days) to consider it. Once they came back with a counter offer I immediatley purchased the coin. I was definitely worried that during the weekend someone would have bought it! I ended up spending more than my little bonus check, but I'm glad it worked out. You weren't going to buy it were you?

Harlan J. Berk is a very reputable seller and dealer. They have been around a long time. I think your coin is beautiful and you snagged it for a fair price. As far as the "dipping" goes there is not a lot of old silver out there that has not been dipped. I can personally attest to dipped coins making it in to PCGS slabs many times. You have a great example for your type set. Congratulations! Mike

Quote FroDaddy, "..You weren't going to buy it were you?" No, I wasn't going to buy it. I still don't have a Seated dollar in my type set, my point was, had I seen it, I may well have bought it. Enjoy your coin, I think it's a real beauty.
