I'm with you; that mint-mark is 100% fake. It looks too, well, tiny and thin, I guess you would say, and too sharp for a well circulated coin. In that quarter's grade, a real mint-mark would appear as not much more than an S shaped blob. In higher grades the mint-marks are still larger and thicker than this one. I'd report this to ebay if I were you. It was just listed, so if you report it now, it will be taken off before the auction ends.

 yes,, all the quarters I looked through, I had plenty trouble to see the mint marks..That one is is I don't know...

does the lettering seam squashed against the rim or is it supposed to look like that?

Well a good friend gave me some great advice when it comes to rare key date coins...read the book before you buy the coin, and when in doubt buy certified authentic coins thought this would be a interesting thread

I am going to say a fake. As mentioned, that MM is far to thin and lite IMO.

 that mint mark looks right..the one in the auction nope not even close, reminds me of a episode of pawn stars a lady tried to sell a 32 s and they wouldnt buy it because the mintmark looked fake...
