Going to look at some 1921 raw Morgans on Tuesday. Is this particular date counterfeited a lot?
Thanks

You don't need two threads for this topic... I'm confused on what you're asking...
But if you're asking if 1921 morgans are counterfeited, YES. They are. All dates of Morgans have counterfeits.
Heck, you could probably find a 1895 MS Chinese counterfeit out there.

1921 Morgans are infrequently counterfeited because there's a nominal numismatic premium associated with them. This means the profit in turning out a phony lies in skimping on or omitting the silver content. So a fake will usually be underweight or have a ferric composition, so when you go, provided it's not going to offend the seller, your protection would be to take a scale and also see if a magnet sticks to them.

You can find them counterfeited - if you can fake one for 50 cents and sell it for $20, you're making money - but they're the most common extant Morgans and I'd approach this lot with the default assumption that they're real. As long as you're comfortable with knowing what they *should* look like (knowing the differences of the 1921-only design), you'll be OK. I've seen 1921 counterfeits, but no really convincing ones to the educated eye. Doesn't mean they don't exist, but I've never seen one.

I would think that there are fakes out there, but you are most likely to find a fake of one of the key dates or any of the Carson City ones.
