Topcat7 Pillar of the Community 1121 Posts	Posted 05/05/2014 03:05 am I recently purchased some Spanish 'Pirate' coins, and one is escaping me (in identification). It is in poor condition but I am able to make out some of the lettering. It reads "PHILIP.V.D.G.HISP.(REX?)This legend is found on some 'Pieces Of Eight' (or 8 Reales) but this coin does not appear to be made from silver. It appears to be bronze and measures 22 mm. (see photo) Does anyone have any ideas that wold help me to identify this coin? Regards Report this Post to the Staff

It was sold to me as possibly being an 18th Century Marvedis. I really do thank you.
