I see the rpm, its faint but its there(under the actual mm).
Its usual for the mm to be misplaced, rotated and sometimes upsidedown or back wards because back then they were all punched by hand.
Feel free to call me Will.

I see a ding in the lower serif and what appears to be a coin scratch under the mint mark the lower serif got hit and touched the field.

How about the upper portion between the lower top trumpet a curl of the S... Oddly the 44s cent you posted in this thread has a similiar device
Maybe its just a dark spot on the mintmark?

I am not seeing an RPM as for placement it looks to be within mint tolerance.

That is must be on the mint mark punch. They get bent and make many more mint marks before they are retired.

This one is a RPM:
1944-S-Mis-Placed-Mintmark
It also shows the damaged punch as well. Note the serifs on the mint mark for the RPM.
Here is a 1943-S RPM that has the same split serifs, but the punch wasn't damaged yet in 43.

Well... I do hafta admit thats a great dissertation.. Wow! That is a chunk of information I had no idea on.. Lol never crossed my mind damaged punch... Well I'm gonna acetone the coin see if I can pretty it up a bit..id sure like a better look at that mint mark.. Once again..i am awestruck.. Originally is what caught my eye was the rotation of the mintmark and in my world thats pretty cool... And its different then my 44s BU so its just kinda neat coin.. I like the odd balls and the not so commons.. Every denomination brings a new challenge. New information to learn.. This forum is outstanding,I hope others are like me and get out of this website what I do knowledge and experience. Ok and again thanks!! Wow!! Super awesome!!

You were both right..touch of strike double on the lower part of mint mark and the coin had some kinda hit through the same area.. Just a neat looking rotated mint mark the other coin I have the mint mark is slightly over to the left and straight in relation to the other devices.. Ill keep it and call it a RMM hahaha sounds smart! Rotated mint mark maybe some day I can attribute it to a die pair ya never know!! Thanks for all the help guys great information!
