Here is my 1795 US Lettered Edge Large Cent from the EAC convetion!

I went to the show hoping to find an attractive one in AG with scratch. This one seamed made to order:) I am being serious! These are super pricey in higher grade and problem free. Partly because of the low mintage of 37,000.

I like the honest wear & nice color/toning. The obverse is attractive despite the old scratch IMO. The reverse could have a little better detail, but it is still nice to me:)
I like it! There is even a majority of the edge lettering present!
Think of the stories it could tell.

It may be beat up (like me), but I like it.

Is it normal for the "5" to be up that far?

The only thing I can post from 1795 is Bank Checks, a news paper or a farmers Almanac from that time period.

Depends on what you mean by normal At least one obv has the top of the 5 buried in the bust, and either one or two of them have half the the flag imbedded. one almost touches and one is clear of the bust.

It is all there Tj. A clean example of a 95' with a readable lettered edge, and the surfaces are attractive.

I believe this one is actually S-75?
Breen describes double leaves at IT and CA for the variety which I believe I can see on your example.

Thanks for the comments!

The "5" in this variety looks like an upside down "?" to me. I think its kinda cool:)

I purchased it as a S-75 and it checked out when I looked at comparisons. It is an R-3.

It's an S-75. S-74 and 75 share the same obv, quick way to tell them apart is the 75 has an outer berry between E and the R. On 74 it's between the R and the I.
