US coins aren't my area but I took a chance. A few dings here and there but bags of detail remaining. Might not get a numerical grade....hope I did ok....

The gouges on the obverse will get it a details grade, however the coin still has lots of appeal. I'd grade it AU-53 details.

I think you did OK, for $170. That's about VF price, which I think is resonable. No need slabbing it though.

I'd put it at AU-55, the coin is very borderline, not sure if it will be net graded or details graded.

Here is one I paid $205 back in March. EF-45 PCGS@Stack's I have seen many AU-detail 1936 sell for around the same price of $200 to $220. I'm still in the hunt for a AU problem free at a good price and today could be it.

I doubt I'll lose money on it but maybe not make much........might keep it for a while at least and enjoy it............just got back from visiting a sellers house (I leave flyers in my local post office).........bought a 1980 proof half sovereign and he threw in hundreds of low value coins with it for nothing...... Walker Half 1943 nice shape, 1934 and 1935 US quarters, 1936 Buffalo nickel, 1935 and 1941 US 10c......1949 GB key date brass threepence, Russia 10 Kopeks 1921, Australian silver threepence 1910......plus hundreds of coins that will scrap eventually......

Quote: I doubt I'll lose money on it but maybe not make much I think you've about got it right there. Well worth the purchase price, but not one you're going to pay off the house with. A worthy coin all the same.

AU-Details. Decent eye appeal although I don't think that it would grade problem free. Sorry to say but you may have paid a bit too much, however you have to start somewhere and small mistakes will help you develop your grading, problem detection skills.

Were you aware that it's an overdate? 1836/1336.........I understand that will bring some premium
I knew there were problems but still thought the level of detail remaining was pretty nice....

I don't know much about premiums for overdates so you could be right. It appears that there was an attractive PCGS XF-40 of this variety that sold on ebay for $250 last month.

I really like the 1832. Nice VF-35 in my opinion. Pretty similar grade to one of my recent purchases. https://goccf.com/t/177465The 1833 is also VF, but closer to VF-25. May have been cleaned at some point.
