Looking at news reports, one feature of the budget tomorrow will be the sale of the Royal Australian Mint. Wonder what effect this will have (if anything) on coin production, Commemorative Coins etc.

Probably more commemorative coins for circulation, more NCLT coins, perhaps more bullion coins.
Worst and most likely scenario: The RAM ends up being a second RCM when it comes to the issuing of ''coins''

Reading the annual report the Royal Australian Mint made a profit of $95 million last year. Generally I think when a government sells a profit making entity, it gets a short term gain at the expense on a long term loss.
Years ago when the govt, sold the Commonwealth bank for about one billion, today this bank produces this same amount each year in dividends. Dividends which used to go to the government when it owned it.
As far as selling the RAM, I hope they make it a public float, because I'd jump at the chance to partake of selling an ounce of stamped silver for a $100.

Yeah, but that's exactly the point, look at the corruption there.Like the Wheat Board people with little Diplomatic experience getting involved in International dirty dealings so they can get their Bonus's.

A huge mistake imo, just like selling off Telstra & our Power Companies.
Where will it stop ? I guess it has to stop soon, there's nothing left for them to sell off.

I think the RAM has been putting profits first for many years now so I doubt that it would greatly affect their coin production. I would definitely be interested in buying some shares though.
