Hi there, I have found this old token amongst some coins my grandad left me and I'm trying to find out a little bit more about. So far the internet has come up with nothing and I was hoping maybe someone here could help. I have included photos, but essentially I think the token is lead, it has the text "J. Vickar" encircling the letter "B" and also has the number "97" stamped onto both side. The following are pictures of the token:

Does anyone know what this is and where is comes from? I suspect it is english but beyond that don't have a clue!

Many thanks

I looked as well, and I did not find anything immediately. I then thought - what happens if this is some sort of address button, like they used to use near the buzzer style doors in the big cities, like New York? It looks like a name, a Building and a number to a unit. If it is made out of a soft material, it would be ideal for a land lord to make a quick die and come up with a name on the token, then they would be placed where ever in order to see who resided in a particular unit.

Other than that, I suggest seeing if any heavy duty civil war era clubs or businesses that deal with tokens of the early 1900's or so know of this pattern.

The Civil War era means something entirely different in the UK than the time period of what I assume you refer to as the Civil war Collectors-Corner : )

Hey, thanks guys for the help - I would never have thought about it being an address button! Not sure why my Granddad would have had it though, but its something I can look into further - thanks again for all your help! It is really really appreciated!
