I am no expert on this series and/or the diagnostics of this key date ...
However ... a few years of numismatic knowledge gained from the mighty CCF folks tells me to RUN AWAY from this auction.
The date is all messed up .... a small initial '1' followed by big fat '877'.
The headband legend LIBERTY is way out of balance with the wear on the remainder of the coin ... and the reverse legends do not match any original example that I was able to find in my limited search.
My vote (non-binding, non-expert) is that this is not an authentic example and I would advise to stay away unless you are absolutely certain in your ability to ascertain authenticity through those poor scans.

The photo is so bad I don't see why it would interest anyone. I'm not expert either but like David said, the date looks real weird.

I think they may have used something like this to stamp the date.

No Shallow N...No $750! Date looks strange, the 7s don't look thick enough on the tops of them. And wouldn't you think someone selling a 1877 would have better pictures than that?

I think it's a counterfeit for the following reasons: 1- The font used for the date looks wrong. The tops of the 7's look relatively flat. Look at the following NGC graded example on ebay: 191148612229. The tops of the 7's have a "double dip" and "horns" on the ends. The example you're asking about has no such features. 2- The seller is trying to sell a $750 coin and supplied a 3-cent picture. 3- The seller does not accept returns 4- Liberty appears complete yet the start bid is VG-8 money. Why would he take on this kind of risk if the coin may be worth $1,500 or more? Would you? 5- The seller sells very little numismatic material yet has this monster coin to sell 6- The seller listed the item at least once before and it didn't receive a bid It may be real, but I am and would be extremely suspicious.

Fake...all the 77s have the weakly struck N in ONE on the reverse. If it's missing that then no need to look further, it's bogus.
