Hi All,

Just added my first 3 Cent coin to my 19th century coin page. Question is what do you all think? I should have it in a few days.

Nice coin and a good price. Pretty much guarantee it will look better in hand, Vette takes terrible pics.

Looks like a decent F-15 coin.

Nice. I remember looking at this one on ebay. I was trying figure out how polished the die must have been for the bridge of the nose to disappear. You can have fun with a loupe to see of there are any clash marks - while the picture is very light, I do think I see one on the reverse.

I agree with IndiangoldEagle on the fine grade.

It's at least a F-15, may have some claims to VF-20. The coin originally had some strike weakness which is why the lower curls of the hair are lacking in detail. At one time the obv die almost certainly had strong clashmarks which were subsequently removed by heavy die polishing that has removed the bridge of the nose and greatly weakened the left leg of A1 and the bottom curve of S2. The reverse die has probably seen less use than the obv because the lines in the III are sharper than often seen (but still shows some weakness in the center I). I can't say much about the color or any possible cleaning because I think the photo is not the best. If it hasn't been harshly cleaned then the price is a real bargain considering the free shipping.

I could have just said good deal, but you wanted to know what I was thinking about it.

It could be the lighting from the photo but has this one been cleaned?
