Hi,
Was wondering what most of you predict for releases this year in terms of major events in Canadian history?

August 1914 - Canada goes off the gold standard, breaking forever the link between national gold reserves and the money supply.

Thought a gold coin to commemorate that would be touching!

Take last last year commemoratives and add 1 to make a special edition.

These were all mentioned in the 2012 new coin survey - seems the Mint plans years ahead for it's designs.

Centennial of 1914 sealing disaster
100th anniversary of the birth of W.O. Mitchell
75th anniversary of the British Commonwealth air training program (e.g. featuring planes and pilots such as Billy Bishop)
100th anniversary of "Winnie the bear"
25th anniversary of the Canadian Space Agency
Series commemorating the 100th anniversary of World War I
Series commemorating the 75th anniversary of World War II
50th anniversary of Peacekeeping in Cyprus
150th anniversary of the Charlottetown and Quebec City conferences
75th anniversary of the first Royal visit

Of course some of those have been released already this year.

Are you thinking of Winnie the Pooh?

I think the coin, if they produce one, would be the actual bear not the Pooh bear.

Thanks for URL
it was interesting.

yeah, I thought about Winnie the Pooh bear.
Hours I watched all the animations movies with my kid.

The Winnie and the Pooh, both bears deserve a coin not less than the Superman.
