I noticed the past few months going to awaiting stock within a few days of master club. Then a few weeks later they are available again. Some of the coins coming to mind: gilded/ color nanaboohoo coin, the 3 eagles subscription and the Impress of Ireland silver coin. I had thought I'd missed out on the eagle subscription and on the Empress. I check the mint site twice a week. I noticed early this week that both coins are available.

I also noticed the mint fixed the price on the 3 silver eagle coins, after several reviews stating incorrect price. I thought the mint was giving people a price break if they subscribed to the 3 eagle set. I thought each coin was $89 each. I couldn't figure out why dealers were charging $99&$114 for the color & gilded coins. Looking at the specs today after reading reviews, they put the individual prices next to the individual coin specs. Yet the title has $89 in bold type. Is this a new marketing technique ?

I would appreciate to hear others thoughts on this?

Awaiting stock could mean they are making more coins they do not make the whole mintage at the same time for most coins

Perhaps collectors are cancelling orders or returning them.

There seems to be a downturn in collecting coins with so many sales going on. You could practically get any coin at a discount now.

elk is right about not making the whole mintage. Even for the specimen sets they just make them as they need them until the max mintage is filled. So what is awaiting stock now could be available in 6 months from now. I noticed this with the 2013 specimen sets. They were awaiting stock at the begging for a while and then at the end of the year they had a whole bunch....must of made more.

But that doesn't explain why when it's in awaiting stock status, you can't even place an order if they are going to produce more.

For some reason, whenever a coin is "awaiting stock" the mint reps on the phone tell you that the item is sold out, then later on suddenly it comes back, from my experience the examples have been the Empress coin, the eagle subscriptions, the coloured nanaboozhoo coin, and the 2014 50cent roll, while on the other hand things like the glass frog went awaiting stock and never came back into stock. So why not just say "SOLD OUT" for those. Also I noticed that such as the first royal visit coin, I got an email saying 75% sold out, and then on their website it says now 77% I think. That coin was never awaiting stock, while on the other hand the Empress one, before it was released to public, the night before I called in to place my order as it was awaiting stock online, they said they have a few remaining and will be sold out by tmrw, yet its still back in stock 10 days later. For some reason it makes me think that if a coin goes awaiting stock is that to try to get it while I can somehow, and I think the mint is doing something to increase sales by making people think that item will be sold out, which means theres higher demand.
