Good morning, I'm interested in this coin on ebay...it seems like a good price from what I've already seen but am wondering about the white spots around the F12. I'm not experienced enough to tell if their milk spots or just bad photography ?
I asked the seller and he said "it does not have any problems if its not to your liking ill pay shipping both ways thanks for the interest".
Just looking for a couple opinions before I put an offer in on this coin.
Thanks,sherwooddavid

Yup those are the dreaded RCM milk spots. Older bullion coins of there's and even new ones have been known to get milk spots. It has to so something with the processing or cleaning the blanks or something. The wildlife series was especially bad for it. Also the Somalia elephants are known to get them. Supposedly the 2014 maples are not suppose to get them....but I have seen pictures with them having milk spots and even the falcons. Its just one of those things you have to deal with on RCM bullion. Some people don't care if your just buying cheap bullion but if your paying a premium for bullion like that f12 some people would stay away because of milk spots. just up to you I guess. Hope this helps.

You have the dreaded ebay Global Shipping program rip off fee, as in this case there is no duty or HST on .999 bullion products, yet it still charges these fees. The seller can opt out of this program, when I see an US seller with the Global shipping I ask them to opt out or I don't bid. This fee increases as the bidding increases.

Unfortunately milk spots will always be an issue with maples. I've caved in the past and added some maples with spots to my collection to fill missing slots, but obviously given the choice I would chose one without the spots. On the more pricier maples sometimes sellers will take offers if you message them with one. Doesn't hurt to try.

I remember seeing a video a while back where a guy used jewellery wipes to remove the spots. I wouldn't recommend it for a numismatic coin as it will likely still cause the faint scratching on a proof surface you can see with a loupe but it would probably be okay on a regular bullion coin.
