HI all, A friend of mine brought me a new dollar he said he ordered thru the newspaper! He wanted me to look at them, and asked if he should buy the whole set? I myself, don't mess with this kind of thing, but I told him I would ask my friend's on the forum for some input on the topic! Maybe some of you have seen this offer. First of all, his trial shipment came with a free sample Adam's dollar in a display capsule, along with a roll of Adam's dollar's in a sealed roll in a display case!! Note; on the display box, it say's (425 net grams united states legal tender,Ballistic roll, never circulated)! There are 39 issue's for him to buy at, nine monthly installment's of $9.88 + .88 shipping. I looked at the Encased Coin with my loupe and by the look's of it alot of my circulated coin's, must be what they call, Never circulated Thank's MOONSHINE

The term "Balistic Roll" is your sign to shop elsewhere.

Stay away from newspaper ads that target the general public....99% of them are a sham.

I saw the same advertisement in the newspaper where I live. It is definitely overpriced. The ad in my newspaper was charging $98 per roll.

It's a ripoff, tell your friend to stay clear of anything he see in a newspaper or any shopping channel. Any help I can give to keep people away from these places I will.

I only replied to a newspaper ad for coins once. I ended up with "approvals."
Best to stay clear.

I saw this ad. It looks like they are filling plastic tubes with coins from bank/Federal Reserve coins. Then they package them in little boxes made to look like gold bricks (no value). The ads had a lot of verbiage trying to imply a connection with gold somehow, and also implying that these were somehow better, rare, or straight from the mint. But reading between the lines made it clear that none of these were true. You could get equal quality coins going to your bank and asking for rolls, which is what I do. Many banks will get them if you keep asking. They know the coins are popular.

tell him to get his money back...I fell for the ads too, and they were very courteous in refunding the payments I had already made. I kept the first shipment so I wouldn't have to ship it back, but they offered to buy it back less shipping. Mine was from the world monetary reserve exchange or something like that.

The coin collecting boom we are seeing lately has naturally brought out all types of scam artist. They are producing poor quality folders for coins, paper tubes, painted coins and many other items that are all scam or con items. At one coin show I go to I was talking to a dealer that sell mainly all newer type coins in 2x2's. They said they just go to the bank, buy rolls of new coins (bank puts them aside for them, open up the rolls, put the coins in 2x2's and sell them at the coin shows. A cent costs them a cent. The 2x2's they buy in bulk and pay about .02 each. They sell them for $1. They have one of the busiest tables at the shows. As to offers in the newspapers, TV adds, magazine adds, I would avoid them completey.
