I saw this coin just looking around on ebay's Wheat cent auctions. It really looks to be a proof but it may also have been polished after mint. The detail in the lettering and hair and the rims look very close to a proof tho. What do you guys think?

I am debating on taking a 30 dollar risk on it or not. There is a 3 day return policy but I really dont have much extra money to play around with right now. Anyway heres the link. Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks!

You know what....you might be right. It is a bit of a risk though. The coin looks like it has a possible wire rim. Let us know if you get it and get better pix!

With a 93% rating and $7 to ship you just have to wonder.

Very hard to tell with the poor slightly out of focus photography through the plastic of the 2X2 which is catching the light. A couple of areas look like squared rims, but others appear rounded. I don't think I'd do it.

93% with only 13 sales? feedback is not good. but I did look at his FB and the red dot is from a guy that just wanted to buy and the seller backed out when he didn't get what he thought the set was worth. so if you get it for 20. and he thinks it is worth 100. you will not get your winning bid. plus the shipping this guy charges is bordering on criminal. I would avoid this guy like the plague.

I got a 38 proof that looks a little better than that for $45 from a coin shop. If you look around and catch the right auction you can get a 38 for close to that. Its the 36 that will cost a few bucks

I went ahead and just passed on it. It ended up staying at 20 bucks but between his feedback and not really great pics I figured its better the just wait.
Rest in Peace

It just looked "off" and the lighting stinks..If that were a true proof I would take the best pics possible to show it off.

Well he wasn't selling it as a proof, so the pics werent taken by him to show it as such, that is why I had asked on this forum. I will never really know either way tho since I decided not to bid on it. If it is a business strike tho it was quite a nice strike imo.

You made a wise choice. The cost of the shipping was ridiculous.
