Picked up a 1953 mint set, in the OGP.
It really is a beautiful set.
the quarter and dime have some dark toning in one side, near the edge.
The 1/2 is very very nice.
My, very trusted LCS, tells me the toning would come off in dip, but I will leave them just like they are. rusty staple and everything.

I'll take pictures when I have time.

update: my free image storage place is no longer free, so once I find another free host I'll upload them.

I use tinypic for my images, not so good by itself but for imbedded images in a forum post, it works.

You can upload pics directly here to this forum. There is a file size limitation but if your image is too large, there's a resizer you can use as well.

And I wouldn't dip mint set coins unless they were in really bad shape.

We shall await your pictures stamp virgin. When the silver coins have "Mint Set Toning" that is attractive they do bring a premium. You need to check the step detail on the nickels. 53-P and 53-S usually come with no steps or just one full step (which is the top one). Even a three stepper on either of those two makes gives those a premium.

Rusty staple? Are we talking about a Mint set or a proof set?

Sounds like a proof set to me. Also he refers to only one of each coin.

sorry, proof set...
I don't plan on dipping anything, they will stay in the original plastic and in the original box.

Beautiful early proof set! I've always wanted one of the early proof sets in the original little cardboard box! Great pick up and nice price too!
