Quote: According to Numismedia, the 1964-D half should sell retail for around $970. I would not pay more than that, so someone must obviously want to put together a really nice registry set. If you can buy a 1964-D Kennedy half dollar graded by PCGS MS67 and the coin is all there for the grade, you probably won't loss money if you can get it for under $1,300. Not sure were Numismedia is pulling their prices from but it probably involves using "pixxy dust" if they are quoting a price under $1,000.

Been a while since anybody commented on this thread ... I see Heritage recently sold the Vennekotter Collection ... there were some really nice pieces in that set. Anybody pick any of those up? Best Regards, George

I did, but not real expensive ones. I did get a PR69DCAM 1970 though from that collection.

Best Regards,
George Watched a few of the auctions. Some new high prices established especially on the varieties even with some of the varieties in PCGS plastic being the wrong "critters". Over all, Mark has to be happy with the prices realized (makes me think about selling). Only one coin we were thinking about but ended up the under bidder, someone else just wanted it more ...

George, Did you notice this one on Heritage? http://coins.ha.com/itm/kennedy-hal...nks-12202013It went for about $650.00 with juice. Too bad it is not the right critter ... The 1967 FS-801 is supposed to be referenced to CONECA DDR-001 not CONECA DDR-002. That little "die dot" between the S and T of STATES is a dead give away plus the DDR-001 is a "triple spread" while the DDR-002 is just doubling. Tim

So, I had to post this one. I had another 1964 Kennedy half, PR69DCAM PCGS, that I bought from a fellow maybe six years ago. I think it was accurate for the grade but it had maybe three TINY -- and I mean MINUSCULE -- INSIGNIFICANT -- completely PICAYUNE dark spots on the obverse. I liked the coin. Except. Every time I looked at the coin, those spots got a little larger, finally assuming GARGANTUAN -- HUMONGOUS -- I mean, completely BROBDINGNAGIAN proportions. I knew I would have a tough time replacing that coin, and I did. I sold it in a Heritage auction maybe a year after I had it, before those spots could assume ELEPHANTINE size. I took a small loss. So I bought a nice 1964 PR68DCAM PCGS Kennedy off of ebay --this was back on a day that I caught everybody else sleeping, I think [you can't do that as much anymore; or maybe I am just sleepier now myself] -- and bided my time. I'm glad I did now. Recently a nice fellow contacted me and asked me did I want this? He said he bought it some 10 years ago from a fellow named Rick Tomaska the guy who wrote the book on Cameo and Ultra/Deep Cameo proof coinage of the 1950 to 1970 era. Tomaska, selling him the coin in 2005, said it was the deepest Deep Cameo mirrors he had seen on an example of the date. I tend to agree. I was doubly pleased that I had seen the coin on ebay and remarked to myself how nice it looked in the photos even before I heard from the owner. It took four years to replace it. I think it was worth the wait. And meeting an exceptionally nice, courteous new fellow collector was gravy on the turkey. Enjoy! Best Regards, George

The same fellow also has a nice 1971-S Kennedy PR69DCAM PCGS, very tough coin to find in Deep Cameo, but I already have a nice example of that. If anyone is looking for one of those PM me and I will get you in touch with him. Best Regards, George

1971S DCAM that is a tough one, DCAM on one side is easy, on both darn near impossible.
