Hi Guys,
I cannot get the camera to capture it exactly but on the reverse there
is a definite M between the 2 bottom left stars under 20 x magnification. I cannot find any reference to this on Google. Is this a mint mark or am I seeing things?

Any help and or comments will be appreciated

Regards

ScotAl12

The mintmark location is supposed to be between the tips of "C" next to "III," if there is one. The only silver 3 cent piece with a mintmark is an 1851-O. All of the other silver trimes were minted in Philadelphia. No trimes or any other classical US coinage ever had the "M" mintmark.
Thus, this 1853 trime is from Philadelphia.

The only Trime with a mintmark is the 185-O, this is just a regular 1853.

Matteproof is correct, a M would not be a mintmark. A possibility could be a clash from the obverse. One way to tell is if the M is indented. If it is indented, then it is post mint damage and not a clash. If possible, please see if you can obtain clear images of the area and post them.
