After going through my catalog I have found out I'm missing a couple dates, I have at least one coin from each year starting in 1878. But I'm missing 1933 and 1893 I was thinking Walking Liberty half for 1933 but it has a low mintage and I don't have a lot of money to blow on a rare one. Anyone have suggestions for something I could get for those two years. I'd prefer Silver but I was even thinking the 1933 LWC for my folder would work for that year.

How about a Colombian commemorative. Not a lot of money and a lot of history. It's also got your silver.

An IHC for the 1893 would be my choice. Not a lot of options for 1933.

I just saw a Columbian Commemorative at my LCS, not sure what the price was but I know it's not cheap, I'll double check the next time I'm there but most likely it will be gone before I have enough cash for it. I think I'm leaning more towards kanga's idea... Two Cents will do just fine. I never realized that 1933 was such a bad year for coins, no dime, no quarter... only about a million half's. 46 million for the 1893 IHC so it's not a key date I need 23 wheat's to fill out my book so the 1933 and 1933-D are already in my sights. I'm also open to foreign suggestions, LCS doesn't have much in the line of foreign, but I'm open to any ideas

How about a double eagle for 1933? And/or a San Fransisco-minted Morgan dollar for 1893?

In all seriousness, I'm actually thinking about doing a year only set for coins pre-1900 (Seateds, Morgans, large/Half cents). Much more history than a type set, and no worries about pesky key dates. Would anyone know if such a folder exists?

I actually have a 1 ounce silver round Saint Gauden's Double Eagle Replica that is dated 1933... produced in this century thou Quote: Would anyone know if such a folder exists? I'd say just go with 2x2's or you could get a few folders with no writing and rip them apart then use the handyman's secret weapon... duct tape to put them together in the right order.

Columbian halves are not too expensive in circulated grades. A nice XF or AU example will cost something like, $20. It's better to get silver over copper if it is affordable. I'd get a LWC for 1933, as long as the WLH is out of the price range.

The 1933 S walker may have a "low" mintage, but it isn't an expensive coin If you like silver I would definitely look at going for it.

1933 Lincoln Cent? My RedBook says you can get an AU for about 11$ It's not silver, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

This past month I have made two trips to the LCS for Wheaties. These are before and after shots on the first trip, the second trip got me a 1927-S, 1930-D, and 1931 on the second page and filled the third page. sorry no pics after second trip. I doubt I'll ever have a 1909-S VDB but I'm going to keep working on the folder Original question, what to get for those 2 dates, I'm still thinking pennies. You can see how many hole filler I got and the most expensive was the 1909 VDB at $7.00, $12.80 for 42 of them. After 1930 he said the only one he will charge more then $0.05 is the 1931-S... now this is out of the low end cull bins. But if you look at 1939-S... the one that looks AU... that was a 5 cent cull bin coin Quote: an AU for about 11$ I'll take a G-04 for 5 cents and be as happy as a clam ... then spend the other $10.95 on silver... or chocolate I haven't decided yet

Please... PLEASE take my word for it, it is an 1893 Indian Head cent. I was in the area of the LCS today and stopped in to look for MY key dates I forgot to even look at the Columbian half but I did ask about 1893 cents and came up with this red chocolate baby. ...and if you are taking entries for the WORST picture of a coin I think I can make it into the finals I try to get a close up and it's a blob!... OK so it's a blob. But MAYBE I can use the FIO to REALLY SHOW the deep red/brown but NOW it looks like a CLOWN coin with Polka-Dots! It was one of the young kids(under 25)* he got out the shop's Red Book (the older guys were at lunch) and quoted me a price of $3.00... I hemmed and hawed, he asked how much I would like to pay. I wanted to pay no more than a buck but they treat me right so I should try to reciprocate. So I said $2.00 and the deal was done I had mentioned $7.00 for a 1909 VDB earlier and major deals on the rest of the Wheaties I'd gotten at the start of the month. This same kid had totaled it up while the older guy was busy. Then the older guy had come up and dropped most of the prices from 25 cents to 5 cents. So the kid knew they liked to give me deals. No wonder since I had picked up POUNDS (no joke), of silver when the price was high, from them. I also looked at the Mexican Peso's, the older guy had quoted me $10.00 for them and I may take him up on it, they are all older 0.7200 fineness so 0.3856 ASW (KM# 455) -side note 90% half dollars are 0.3617 ASW and they charge me $10 for a Franklin or a Walker. So it is a better deal but I didn't have the cash and they had a 193... 4! but no 1933 The HUNT continues * Age is relative: My Mom said to me once, 'look at that young guy.' I looked around and saw a 50+ guy (I'm pushing the heck outa 40 myself) and I said "what that old guy?" she (70+) said 'Yeah, he's young to me!'
