Fascinating , I guess soon we wont even need to use the words paper money , the idea of money being plastic fills me with dread for some reason; I really hope they wont feel like regular plastic we are accustomed to

DaytR, being used to 'plastic' money for many years now I hadn't thought of it that way.
Many years ago, in Britain, you might have been asked "Will that be cash or plastic?" with a totally different meaning.

I remember using plastic Rp 100000 bills a few years back, the only denomination on plastic, they were even called "uang plastik" (plastic money). Then they switched back to use paper. Weird huh? They do feel like plastic but money plastic feels different from plastic bag plastic, so don't worry You can write with pencil on it and erase and not ruin it! Why on earth did I think to scribble on a $20 bill in the first place is the bit I don't know. thai-vic, what does the question mean in the past?

In the UK, to offer to pay using "cash or plastic" would be to pay either using coins/banknotes, or using a credit/debit card.

I guess that's why didn't hear Monty Python say that.

Being in Australia using polymer and then in Hong Kong using mainly cotton fibre, I find no problem with either.

Isn't US money cotton? Or at least cotton based? Does it have paper content?

I don't think Isle of Man is considered British. They're not in the EU and do have a different status. None the less it's an interesting plakky note.

I really don't see a problem with plastic, it is just something people will have to get use too.

If Scotland chooses independence, maybe these 'first plastic' notes will also be their last British banknotes as well.
