As I have been working on some MS66 War Nickel Sets, I took the time today to look a little closer at a few of them. I am having an issue with the two below as to whether they are doubled or md.

The first, 1945P only has one area with reduction of the device (lower part of loop) but also clearly has notching at the top left of the P and no other reduction of the device.

The 1942P also shows (to me) no reduction in the device and notching on the lower right part of the leg.

My understanding is that notching indicates hub doubling and reduction of the device indicates md. Am I missing something?

Any opinion/help would be greatly appreciated!

I'll revist this post later, got bbq going.
The'45P tends to be an RPM. I'm not the greatedt w/them, as they're
numerous. Coop has nailed the ones I've posted.

Looks like the 1942-P is CONECA RPM-004

I didn't see a match for the other coin in the files for 1945-P. You might want to down load the CONECA Jefferson nickels RPMs guide. It is on the Variety Vista home page for free right now. On the lower right side of the home page.
