Filled 2.

The 1882 and 1883 logotype punches were very different. On the 82 the numbers are all close together while on the 1883 they are wide apart. There is almost enough room to fit the entire 2 between the 8 and the 3. So whenever you see an "1883/2" Shield nickel being offered the very first thing you do is look for that wide spacing between the digits. If you don't see it it ISN'T an 1883, and probably 90% or more of the raw 83/2's listed for sale are actually 82 heavy 2's.

Take a look at this website, it has enlarged pictures of the 1882 and 1883 dates side by side so you can see the spacing difference
