I have most of the early coins in the set on display on my website. Here's the secure link: https://www.vdbcoins.com/index.php/...not-for-saleFrom there you can sort by Name or PCGS/Sort number and/or lowest to highest or vice versa. We are up to number 3 on the PCGS Complete Kennedy half set, Circulation Strikes and Proofs, so there are a lot of nice coins there. A lot of the Cherrypickers' variety coins have closeups. The good photos are by Todd Pollock of BluCC Photos, the bad photos are by me. I know I need to work on my photographic skills, but hopefully some folks will enjoy looking at the coins and the diagnostics I have mentioned. Enjoy! Those are absolutely stunning coins! I love the toning on some of them, it's beautiful! Kennedy halves was one of the first series I remember collecting and while my collection is nothing like yours, I still enjoy them! Thanks for sharing this with us!

Thanks for the nice comments. I have it on my list to take some better photos of the 1964 SMS in MS67 PCGS ... it's the only early coin in the set I would not send to Todd to photograph ... even though he has insurance out the wazoo, it is still an irreplaceable coin. I should have them on the website within a few days. Best Regards, George

You wouldn't by chance have a 1980P DDo-001 would you?
I would love to see a picture of it. I think I have one but it's not in the best of condition.

Hi,
Looking at your set on your web site, it looks like under the 1967 DDR-001 (FS-801) you have a picture of the 1968-S DDR-001 (FS-801). You may want to make a small edit.

Quote: Very cool! I'm getting close to submitting for a registry set! George has a very nice set going but the Registry game isn't for everyone. Let us be honest, with the Kennedy half dollars, unless you have a coin that will grade extremely high most dates and mintmarks wouldn't be worth the cost per coin to be graded. I mean if your 2001-P Kennedy will only grade MS66 on a good day at PCGS, would it be worth at least the $16 fee that PCGS charges (not including the postage / return postage / application fee and membership fee that has to be paid). I started a Registry set at PCGS with my son about ten years ago and for the past several years it has been boring as heck waiting for the new year's coins to come out (you can only up grade past years coins so much). Lately we have been having more fun using the "Showcase" side of the Registry, at least that way we can build the set the way we want it. I'm not trying to talk anyone out of building a Registry set, just be aware of the cost and make an informed decision if it is worth it to you. Bottom line, have fun and collect what you like. Also, George's set is not the average set, even if money was no factor in purchasing the coins, just finding the coins in the top conditions to build a set like his might be a hill to high to climb all in its self. Most high grade Kennedy half dollars are already in strong hands and they are just not for sale. Just my thoughts on the subject, Tim

Thanks Tim for the catch, I got that straightened out this morning. It's nice to know some folks are actually looking at the content. Regarding my Registry Set, let there be no doubt, this meant real money to me putting it together. Money is definitely an issue. And Tim and his son should know, as they have undoubtedly spent quite a lot (well, Tim has) putting the #1 Finest set together. His point is well-taken that you can't undertake this Registry Set lightly. Tim and I have each been fortunate to buy some nice coins from others who have broken up their sets -- in my case Ronald Bullock and Mark Vennekotter. But Mark Vennekotter has now undertaken new sets and is moving up nicely in the rankings. I always come back to what Walter Breen said in his 1988 Encyclopedia, that the Kennedy half could not last too much longer. Wrong, wrong! The 50th anniversary is going to spur some special new gold dual-dated issues (and who knows what else?), and I still think that this year might be the year to discontinue the series. Or not. Who knows what the Mint is really thinking? It is an important point, though, that even though the Kennedy halves are listed here under "Modern," the set is slowly moving into Classic territory. Best Regards, George
