Post Your Coins Depicting Sailing Ships

Nickels_rule's post about the US Mint's 2007 400th anniversary of Jamestown silver dollar reminded me of the US Mint's involvement in the 300th anniversary of the settlement's founding.

The Mint struck the official medals for the Jamestown Tercentennial Exposition. Medals in bronze, silver-plated bronze, coin silver and gilt were produced within the Mint's exhibit space at the Exposition via an on-site press. The same obverse and reverse designs are used on each of the medals - the reverse depicts sailing ships from the time of Jamestown's founding (1607); the obverse feature a left-facing portrait of Pocahontas.

I realize that these are medals and not coins, but I felt that the US Mint pedigree and their official status made it OK to post them here. I hope folks don't mind!

I've held off presenting this one as it has been shown multiple times already in this thread and is a very common coin. It is, however, the only coin of the classic series of US commemorative coins to depict a sailing ship that I hadn't yet posted. So, I "had to do it!"

The first Congressionally-authorized US commemorative coin was the 1892 World's Columbian Exposition half dollar. It features a portrait of Christopher Columbus on its obverse and a port-side depiction of his flag ship, the Santa Maria, on its reverse.

Note 1: The portrait of Columbus is somewhat fanciful, as no verified portrait from circa 1492 is known. I wrote about a potential reference source for the coin here: Model For Columbus' Portrait On Half-Dollar?.

Note 2: The depiction of the Santa Maria is based on a recreation built in Spain for the 1892 World's Columbian Exposition.

The obverse of the coin was designed by Charles E. Barber, the reverse by George T. Morgan.
