Grandad's-Notes

My grandfather served in North Africa and Italy during WW2. (That's him at the back centre, head turned to the side ). Like many soldiers he kept banknotes from places he served. A little while ago I inherited them. Here they are....

I don't believe that in the world of banknotes they are anything special, but they have sentimental value.

Can anyone tell me anthing about the notes, ther design, use, history or anything else?

Thanks in advance.

I dont have any info on the notes, but I have a collection of almost all of the same ones from my grandfather that served in WWII. I don't collect notes either but these also have sentimental value to me.

The top note is the regular issue two mark note that circulated in Germany prior to the war, during the war and up to the Currency Reform of 1948.

Next are two notes from Algeria that he would have encountered while in North Africa.

The last two are Allied Military Currency. The upper one for Italy and the lower for Austria.
