I sell coins on consignment. That is going to be your best bet. Find a good seller willing to do that. They will sit down with you, go over the collection, catalog it and sign an agreement. Usually they prvide a monthly invoice of what sold for how much and list deductions and show a total amount due to you with a check or cash for that amount. At least thats how I do it.

The fees usually run 15-20% plus any selling and or grading fees incurred. They may also agree to wave fees up to th value of a coin or coins they are interested in.

Clearly this is not the quickest way to sell the collection, but it is the way to see the biggest profit aside from doing it yourself.

If you're in a hurry get 2 or 3 dealers to make offers on the entire lot and take the high bid. Make sure you tell each one that you will take the highest offer amongst the three dealers so they can give you their best shot. Without selling each coin individually that's about the best you can hope for.

Why are you so sick of coins ? Getting overwhelmed ?

Consignment isn't an option because my aunt doesn't want any coins leaving without payment. If this were mine, I would send all of it to Heritage and tell them to have at it! This is daunting!

Yes I know. Scary chance you have to take. Good news- we took the plunge yesterday on a portion. No turning back or questioning. I do know it was 8% off the dealer grey sheet. She isn't going to sit on them but I am feeling inadequate. Don't know anyone well enough that knows about coins so trying to do the best. I actually come here for answers to questions I have and very appreciative. I feel like I can trust you guys here because there isn't a self gain so it seems very honest.

Yes, the members here are very helpful, but there is certainly gain - the good feeling we get from it. I sincerely hope the advice by everyone does help in your quest.

Have you said which part of the country you are in? Maybe a member personally knows a good coin dealer in that state?

Consignment *could* work, if the photos were taken there, then sold online, you would get paid and then the seller could take the ones sold to be shipped.
