How does one tell the difference between the 1982 AB and 1982 AB(b) varieties ?
- see http://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/...0-duid-64401

Are there pictures of the mintmarks in close-up, please ?

According to the explanation in Krause (b) is a privy mark that actually displays a baby crib. Since the AB is located at one side of the 20 on the reverse, I suspect it will be located at the other side of the 20 on the reverse. I tried to find an exmaple online for you, but was not succesfull!

Jupke,
Thank you.

I've looked on my coin - definitely no baby crib, so I know which variety it is.

Does anyone have a clear understanding of the privy marks and what they mean? I collect 50ps so I am aware of coins with AA, AB and even AC but have no idea what they mean. Over the years I've spoken to a number of people who deal with modern Isle of Man coins yet none of them have been able to give much info.
