I must say that it is attractive. I think it's a nice, cheap pickup but if NGC Coin Priceguide is correct, then you might have overpaid, but only by 2 or 3 dollars, so all in all, not a bad pickup.

John, The Indian Head cent looks like an AU to me, just shy of a full strike in the diamonds. The strike could bring the AU grade into question, but I think it's a good price for the coin. If you have access to coin shows in your area you might be able to pick up similar grades of late-date IHCs for about half the price or less in dealer trays.

You did fine. Hopefully it's an original coin.
AU50-53 is my grade.

buyers have complained that great southern coins look better in pictures, but I hope yours looks just as good in hand!

Thanks for the comments. I hope the coins looks that good as well in hand. There is a local coin show that comes every 2 weeks I just found out about. Its not a giant forum of dealers from around NY, but at least there are 15 - 20 dealers I'm told. I will see next week.

Looks like a good deal to me. Numismedia lists it at $18 or $19.
