I am a friend of Chris Duane, who owns the controversial Silver Shield coin group. I recently bought the one ounce Gold Freedom Girl that recently became available. I am really happy to get it, mainly because the sculptress/modeler is Heidi Westweet, a famous artist, and I'm pretty certain that this is her first work released in pure gold. I have a fairly extensive collection of silver and gold pieces, but this is by far my favorite gold piece. Only a few hundred were made, and the connection with Heidi should make this release popular with art collectors. I'm happy to find such a friendly group of bullion collectors, and I look forward to reading about some of your future acquisitions. I am very interested in early Indian gold pieces. I just thought that I would stick my head in the door and say hello.

I have a couple of silver freedom girls. I always loved the design and the quality was very good for silver rounds.
Too bad the business end was such an unmitigated disaster and left such a bad taste in so many people's mouths. Will check out the gold version.

Chris is doing well now that he got rid of the thief at Mulligan Mint. He opened up The Silver Xchange, sort of an ebay for bullion. It's going gangbusters.

I just got an email last night from Heidi Westweet, the girl who designed and modeled "Freedom Girl". What a gracious and friendly young woman. I think that she may draw me a small Remarque of Freedom Girl and autograph it for me. If she is kind enough to do it, it will be my favorite artwork.

Sorry I've been away so long. I've been teaching English in China, and I could never get a WiFi hooked up anywhere that I lived. Plus, I didn't take any gold with me. Hopefully I can post these photos well enough to display them nicely.

I may be wrong but I think Heidi is in one of the Facebook groups I belong to. A gold or silver hoarder group I think. She seems very gracious with her fans/consumers.

Thank You Debrajc! I've been away for a while, and offline. The first place that I headed was the good ol' Coin Community! This site has the nicest people, and You, My Dear, are one of them. Very nice to make Your acquaintance! I have quite a few Freedom Girl coins. I have a five ounce Proof Freedom Girl for sale that is really beautiful. I also have a two ounce Freedom Girl for sale that is a lot less money, and it's amazing how big a two ouncer looks. The Freedom Girl is just a beautiful design. I love her hair! I think I have a crush on Freedom Girl! You know something's up when You spring for the Gold one! Oh, and I have a Chris Duane autographed Debt and Death one ounce coin for $50. He doesn't sign very many of them. If You have any questions about them, I'm pretty well up on all of the earlier issues. Chris and I used to communicate, because a few friends and I were putting out some coins of our own. If You want to see some, look up "Reaper Round" and "Uncle VAM". Those are my two favorites.

A necro'd thread is an old one that everybody has forgotten about that usually get bumped for no reason. You however have one of the best reasons I've seen. How was China? We're you there when the devalued the yen a month or so ago?

I headed home as soon as things started getting weird. I'm not very fluent at all in Chinese, but I had one good friend who spoke the English Language very well. When He told me about the devaluation, I ran down and exchanged all Yuan that I had, and bought a flight out the same day. I was afraid of riots. I left the day that the market took its first huge dive. It is not good to be in a foreign land going through so many changes so fast! You could see in the people's faces that they were afraid of what was going on. I felt great when they closed the door on the airliner. It's the first day that I felt safe since the devaluation. It's good to be home. They did pay very well. They want to know everything about America that they can find out. Some things I felt were a little too intrusive into our nation's business, so I played dumb about some things.
