Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and the internet as it were. Looking to get back into collecting as I've been away for awhile. I want to start looking on the internet does anyone know of any reputable dealers? Any help would be appreciated.

Are you looking for Royal Canadian Mint NCLT products or collectible circulation coins? If the former, I'd recommend ebay as NCLT prices are generally better on ebay than from dealers.

You sound recently retired (back to collecting and new to internet). Best buys are on ebay, but you need to know what you're doing there. Good luck.

I definitely want Royal Canadian Mint coins. Used to collect 1¢ and 5¢ but looking for something more exciting.

Welcome Back in the Saddle....

Pretty close to your own back yard in Winnipeg there is a coin dealer Gatewest... when it comes to mint products and bullion they move some pretty decent volume. They have a few programs as well.. which give discounts on frequent purchases of NCLT's... They have a website as well.. There is also a coin bourse on the second sunday of every month (with the exception of the summer months July and August) Where there are a bunch of coin and stamp dealers and collectors that gather...

Hope that helps.. good luck and congrats on the retirement!

exciting ?!

I'm not sure what you mean by "exciting"
Oxford Dictionary: "Causing great enthusiasm and eagerness"

Mid-month expectation for the Windscar's post, and then pages of discussion till the MC or Public release, later some quiet till the coins will arrive, then joy of owning nice and shiny metal piece.
Unfortunately, the "span of excitement" for NCLT coin relatively short, it expanded, when the coin belongs to the popular series.

Another type of excitement I have collecting Canadian 5c coins from the change - when I get the year, that not in my collection yet.

But the BoC coins - the best "NCLT" ever (IMO).

Pick up a copy of Charlton Vol 1 for circulation coins and/or Vol 2 for NCLT if you want to see the full scope of what's been released over the years. Or take a spin through https://www.jandm.com/script/getcatalog.asp?CID=5 (although you can probably get better prices off ebay of course). For the latest releases directly from the mint go to http://mint.ca. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php is a good site for circulation coins. And http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-grading.php can get you started on how to grade circulation coins. Have fun! And be cautious about which online sites you enter personal and/or financial information into. All of the ones referenced here and above are reputable and as safe as any other.

back in the saddle. In the past 2 yrs I started collecting both circulation & Nclt coins I amassed a huge collection. I thoroughly enjoy it, and through this forum's information, I've added some very beautiful & popular coins. Also Daryl at GAtewest is super helpful! They are a very reliable company. I would suggest making a list of coins you want, then looking at ebay's sold listing for those coins, to see what the sell for. This can be done by using the advance search bar at top of ebay's listings and filling out the pop up form. I really encourage you to search around to compare prices, so you get more coins, for your collecting dollar.
I agree with all the prior posts, all execellent information. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum Jim, and I look forward to your posts! Also beware of the Chinese fakes that are being sold on ebay!

Thanks everyone for all the great tips and information. I will definitely check out ebay as I've used it before. I will be visiting Gatewest this week as I have to head to the big city on other business. I will report back after my visit. But for now I will be checking some of those links.

@Back in the saddle, if/when you go to Gatewest, ask to speak to Darren. He is a good guy who works there. Very helpful and knowledgeable.
