I'm not really a collector of paper money as I am with coins, but couldn't pass up these guys that came across my drawer today. One is a Series 1957, the other is 1957B. I know they're not really worth anything more than face value, but they'll still be something neat to show my kids someday! Especially since, well, I'm 30 years old and have never come across even one silver certificate in the wild....and I've been working cash-handling jobs for 15 years now!

Those are great finds and definitely keepers! I've never seen silver certificates in the wild either. Congrats!

Whenever I see notes found in the wild like this...i just hope it is not some kid spending his father's or grandfather's collection. Heard too many stories of relatives spending a collection for face value.

Its really sad when people spend notes like that for face value outside. I work cashier too and its very rare to find a silver cert. congrats on that!
I've only found 1 1957B $1 silver cert. in the wild so far.

Pretty poor circulated condition to be sure, but they are the "no motto" type.

I've seen two so far as a cashier. One was fortunate enough to pass through my drawer. I explained to the customer what it was, but they decided to spend it anyways.

Another one I saw a woman holding. She didn't want to trade it (despite almost spending it.) If only her total was a dollar more...

Best part was, she said she got it from her mom's purse and should "probably give it back to her". Wat...
