I'm having a hard time with the grade for this coin. Strike takes away the detail as much as the wear.

I agree, Edward's are hard to grade, I thinking that it's VF-35. Although there isn't a VF-35 in Canadian Grading so it'd get relegated to VF-30, my point stands that it's almost a EF but not quite.
