Hello. I've had this coin for as long as I can remember, and I've never figured out exactly what it is. I'm pretty sure it's from Japan, but I could be wrong.
I looked all over the net, but couldn't find much help.

It is a Republic of China one Yuan dated 1981 made of bronze, Krause listed as Y#551

Actually, this isn't Japanese, it's Taiwanese. :)

Y#551. The portrait is Chiang Kai-shek. The date says 70, which means it's minted in 1981, the first of it's series which ran until 1997. Bronze, and the denomination is 1 yuan. Mintage of 1,080,000,000. yeah, over a billion.

Ah! Thanks a lot! I had a feeling it wasn't Japanese because of the way the guy looked, but some of the characters were Japanese, so it kind of confused me.
I knew from the start it wasn't very significant, but it was just bugging me not knowing what it was.
