I was going through my collection and making a list of Eagles I need to work on for my collection and came up with some questions that I found while searching ebay. 1. Does anyone know if there are any PCGS First Strike PR-69 Eagles from 2004 or earlier? I have only found 2005 and later. 2. Do any PCGS PR-69 Eagles exist for 2009? 3. Does a 2011 MS-69 S exist that isn't part of the set (non-set label) 4. Does a 2012 MS-69 S exist that isn't part of the set (non-set label)

I guess PCGS didn't offer First Strike until after the NGC lawsuit was resolved. Then they jumped on the band wagon and started issuing First Strike slabs too. That had to tick them off.

It's weird though because PCGS has First Strikes for the MS coins back to the early 90s.

Actually it was PCGS that started the First Strike slabs, but 2005 was the first year. The MS First Stikes from before 2005 came from unopened monster boxes being submitted that had packing dates from before Jan 31st of the year on the coin. Since the proofs don't have packing dates they couldn't get First Strike designations before 2005.

Quote: 3. Does a 2011 MS-69 S exist that isn't part of the set (non-set label) I believe all the mintmarked 2011-S MS69 graded coins were part of the special set and noted as such. There are 2011-(S) MS69 ASEs without the mintmark. Here's an example of one: http://www.greatcollections.com/Coi...e-PCGS-MS-69

This is the same problem I'm having with the 2012 year.

You mean like this? http://www.greatcollections.com/Coi...o-PCGS-MS-69They're around with 2470 in the POPs. The 2012-(S) only shows 959 at 69 though - a bit tougher to locate but still available.

I simply purchased the PCGS MS70 2009 AE and considered that to be the closest likeness to a proof I'd find in that year. Saving up for a '95W set!

The low populations explain why I haven't noticed them pop up on ebay when I've been looking.
