Hello all, and thanks in advance for taking a look at my post here. My father left to me, amongst other coins, one that is labeled "1928-D Double Date Lincoln Head Cent - Extra Fine".

After extensive searching I have learned a few things. One; not being a "?Numismatist?", my father likely erred in writing "Double Date" instead of "Double Die". Two; There are several "causes" of doubling, some desirable, and some not. Three; There is VERY little information online about the doubled 1928-D lincoln wheats. I could only find a single mention of one, here...

http://www.doubleddie.com/792239.html

Unfortunately, no information is given about the rarity, or value. I assume the doubled 28-D in particular to be pretty rare, based solely on the little information out there regarding them. I am no collector, and could certainly use whatever extra money the coin may afford. Can anybody give me any more information concerning this coin?

Again, thanks in advance guys, for your time and thought. Much appreciated!!

I cannot say anything specific about your coin without pictures but I can tell you that there are no known obverse doubled dies for 1928-D so it is most likely Machine Doubling or Die Deterioration Doubling, neither of which have any premium value.
