My wife asked me what I wanted and I couldn't give her an answer. I mean I know I want coins, but none are coming to mind. I'm sure she only wants to buy me something worth $100. What would you ask for? Any suggestions Thanks

Are you doing any sets? If so, would get a key date coin. You may want to look at getting a 1921 Peace dollar.

Too late for me to send you a complete Mercury dime Album for your birthday. Maybe next year. Why not look for a coin show in your area and have her take you there. Then you could look for STUFF there for her to get you.

Happy early b-day! And to you as well Dar! Mines coming up on the 16'th as well. I really can't say what you should get... It's really up to you what to ask for... If you ask 100 people you'll get 100 opinions, lol. I'm opting out of coins for my bday (actually I usually do) and getting a new pistol this year, lol.. A nice 22/45 Lite to replace my Mach 2... ... and last year my wife and mother split a Kimber Covert 2 for me.. Ya.... I have more of a problem with guns than I do coins, lol. (I should add before someone says it's illegal... that they just give me the $ and I buy them myself... It's illegal to buy a firearm for someone else in my state even though both mom and the wifey have CCW's... Without filling out transfer paperwork that is... Which is a pain in the arse... Just easier to buy it myself, lol)

Ask for a good reference book. And you don't have to worry about them picking out the 'right one'.

I'm so picky I could never expect my wife to buy something I would have bought. It has to have the right look, I have to agree with the grade and value, and I have to be sure it's not a duplicate etc etc. I'm a little OCD about the process I go through to let a coin into my collection. So, I never ask. However, if she decided on her own to surprise me with a coin she tried her best to pick out for me, I would treasure it. Maybe a slabbed type coin of some sort would be a safe pick. Maybe something you wouldn't normally buy yourself. Kind of a difficult question to help someone else with since we are all so different in our likes and dislikes. Good luck!

See if she will make you an "IOU" gift card that promises to take you shopping at a B&M or virtual location.

I second just carl's suggestion adding a nice dinner on the way back from the show at a favorite restaurant.

I just got tomorrow off. I'm going to surprise my wife when I wake up tomorrow and don't go to work. Then we will go out shopping.... When I say shopping, I mean go to the bank to pick up some coins and maybe stop by the local coin shop to pick up some goodies!! Thanks for the suggestions. A lot of good ones.

@Dar My wife took my 3 children to a coin shop and let them pick out indianhead pennies and "V" nickels! I put them in 2x2's and mark their names on them. My wife ended up getting me some other collectables I collect. Not a bad Birthday.

Every time my wife and kids ask me what I want on my birthday or Christmas, I always reply with coins. In eight years I have never received a coin (even when I am specific about which coin I want). Why does she continue to ask me what I want only to give me something I don't need....? Maybe if I say I want socks and ties I will get coins..
