Hi All....long time "looker" first time poster! I'm hoping someone can help me....I have an Australian Florin - 1927 Canberra Gold Florin - the only one I have seen and no end of google searches has produced a result. My father bought this coin in Canberra in the late 70s - he has passed away so I have no way of telling where he bought it, what he paid for it and why it is gold. The coin is uncirculated as far as I can tell - the photos tell the story - the coin was found sitting in my mother's jewellery box Any help in identifying the coin and its value would be appreciated Thanks Mark

I am sorry, but according to the Krause Catalog, that design was only produced in 92.5% silver. KM# 31 11.31 grams, 0.925 Silver 0.3363 oz ASW, 28.5 mm That means your coin has been gold plated or it has toned a gold color. wish it was with better news

To the forum None of these were minted in Gold. This is a Gold plated coin and is interesting but of little numismatic value. I have one of these as well .

can you take it out and take a photo. if it was plated you will see the low parts slightly filled with plate and everything will have a rounded look not a sharp edge so take it out of the slip I would like to see a photo I am with the others plated just let see better picture and also weigh it on some good scales that will help also

Quote: your one is a cracker trout very nice If you like that one then how about this one I only bought the plated coin as a whim, It is a shame it is plated because it is a nice 3 stepper in AU58 and now ruined.

Quote: is that your best trout No, my best is at NGC waiting to be graded. I got this 3 stepper in that commemorative case I bought a few weeks ago, it is the main reason I bought the set The other coins are great but it is rare these days to find a 3 stepper with full lustre

The case is hand made and I have populated it with the silver proof coins of the same design. It looks great
